Venus Williams advanced to the quarterfinals when she won the final four games to beat No. 7-seeded Patty Schnyder 4-6, 6-3, 6-2. Seeded 11th, Williams is the last American in the women's draw.
"Lone flag waving gently in the wind," Williams said.
