Wow. My copy arrived in the mail the very day you announce that the new issue is out.

I'm in the middle of the country somewhere, so it takes a few days for me.

But I do subscribe. It's been my Christmas present every year since '97. Holy cow, I guess I have been hanging out with you guys for a while!

I subscribe too. My favorite perk is the class set of Hornbook magazines I request each semester (J.D. Ho is a prince). I also just loved the editor's column this month (read on-line, since my HB hasn't shown up yet). I don't feel nearly so gormless now that I know Roger Sutton (yes, that Roger Sutton) also has trouble buying books for young folks!

Subscribing sounds like a good idea, but I live in Puerto Rico and we're not in the drop down menu for states, so I can't order (before you ask, no, we are *not* international, Puerto Rico is a US territory and we even have USPS zip codes.)
So I'll just have to go to the university library and read it there.

Oh, this is PAINFUL for me! We have enough income to eat and pay bills, includiing some of my mother's medical bills, so I never think of myself as having less than others or feel sorry for myself with such a wonderful thing as a library close by...and I bring home BAGS of books at a time. And bookstores that don't let me look and look and look...and peek read.

But it is true that I rarely have the money for a new book for myself, and that comes after, of course, the new books for babies I buy as gifts (Kitten's First Full Moon, is my FAV in that department right now). And there always seem to be new babies coming up.

When my ship comes in, Roger, when my ship comes in....And then I'll donate the copies I've read to my local library--ON CONDITION! That they DISPLAY them prominently for other folks to use, too! I finally nailed my new library on letting me in to have access to their Hornbook subscription...the #@!***!!! library people in charge around here...I miss my Seattle Library.

Thanks (again) for the reminder the newest edition of Horn Book is available. I'm second in line to read it and may not get this issue until January unless I whine enough.

I can definitely whine.

It was a happy day when I got added to the Horn Book routing slip at work...of course I'm at the bottom, but that means I can take my sweet time reading it, plus the books have been out long enough to already be in the library system and waiting for me.
