and our frequent commenter Elizabeth Law, whose appointment as VP and publisher of Egmont USA has just been announced. Yay, Lawzy! Send us pics, I mean snaps, from your glam London party!

Lucky them! They have you. (But they have to share you with the rest of us.) And a glam London party? Doesn't get better than that, but if you come deep in the heart of Texas, we'll try to top it.
Wow, thanks everyone! I don’t mean to sound disingenuous, but business plans and new ventures (and glamorous parties in London, with evenings for the theater) are all wonderful and important things. But it really comes down to a dream of finding one or two authors, and publishing just a few books, that mean as much to some kids today as Half Magic or The Long Secret meant to me. (And may those new books stay around as long as Eager and Fitzhugh have, too.)
I've been the editor in chief of The Horn Book, Inc, since 1996; previously editor of The Bulletin of the Center for Children's Books and a children's and young adult librarian. Received my M.A. in library science from the University of Chicago in 1982 and a B.A. from Pitzer College in 1978.

A completely brilliant choice on Egmont's part.
She's going to do exceptional things there, I think.
Congratulations, indeed! This is wonderful news!!

I hope you find those books too! Good luck with your new venture.
Signed, Edward Eager's biggest fan.
Good heavens, Roger, are you turning into an Aussie? Lawzy, indeed--that's what we'd call her! Must be all those Minties... which reminds me...
