In the new issue of Notes from the Horn Book, we recommend some springtime picture books, middle-grade adventure novels, new YA for girls, and a few good science books. And I interview the sizzle behind the Frizzle, Joanna Cole.

Great interview with Cole. I I wish you'd asked her though, if she'd found any "science" that had changed between the first Magic School Bus book and today. My mother works in a Natural History museum and it's been interesting to see Accepted Theories change, over a relatively short time. I wonder if the pace is accelerating since the days when it thirty years to get people to stop putting Brontosauri in childrens' books.
I've been the editor in chief of The Horn Book, Inc, since 1996; previously editor of The Bulletin of the Center for Children's Books and a children's and young adult librarian. Received my M.A. in library science from the University of Chicago in 1982 and a B.A. from Pitzer College in 1978.
